Pears and chocolate are a classic combination.  The pears in this recipe are lightly poached in an orange syrup and then pushed into a rich chocolate mixture that is made with ground almonds.  You can make individual ones or one big torte, it is up to you. Enjoy!

These lovely thin wafers of pastry are lovely served with the creamy blue cheese dip.  If you are serving drinks I couldn’t think of anything nicer.  Roll them with a rolling pin or use a pasta machine if you have one.

We can now buy Pannetone from most supermarkets and to turn it into a fruity bread and butter pudding is a really good way to use any up especially after Christmas.  We have teamed it with a hot punch sauce but a custard would also work well.

We both love haggis and visit Scotland regularly.  Make a stuffing with the haggis, thyme and chestnuts and stuff some chicken breasts.  Serve with a whisky and cranberry gravy and team with some lovely shredded sprouts and leeks.  Enjoy!

A lovely sponge pudding flavoured with lemon and orange topped with golden syrup.  If you don’t want to steam them, cover tightly in foil and place in a bain marie in the oven.  They freeze well and if you make individual ones, just take one out and reheat in the microwave,  yummy.

This combination of apple, carrot and curly kale with cranberries or raisins tossed in a balsamic dressing and then topped with little nuggets of crispy sweet pecans is just delicious.  It is sometimes difficult in autumn and winter time to come up with a good cold salad and the addition of blue cheese or crumbled feta makes a great starter.

This is such a delicious simple recipe.  The combination of red onion, sage and chestnut in the stuffing is lovely.  Do not overcook pork tenderloin as it tends to go a little hard and chewy.  The cheats marmite gravy is genius and can be used on all sorts of dinners (bangers and mash comes to mind) so if you are entertaining and don’t have much time this is a winner.
