We are seeing more and more extremities in our culinary environment, from gastronomic foods, to world food buffets to the either or option. There was a time when going out you had limited options; Italian, Indian, Chinese, Spanish or British. There has been a massive shift in our taste buds, we now have become more adventurous with our foods. There is no end to what you can get when you dine out. We are seeing many fusions and localised dishes hitting our restaurants. I believe this is glocalisation. This is not a unique selling point for the UK it is happening in a majority of countries including our most recent visit to Madrid.
If you had the choice to go to a restaurant with an extensive long listed menu or to a restaurant with only limited options, which would you go for?
Now, more specifically, let’s talk about the either or option dining experience. Over the past few years they have become extremely modern and popular. What if I don’t want either this or that, I want something different. My opinion was a little hesitant, however, I went open-minded and I was definitely proved wrong.
The dining experience may be less of what you would expect if you were heading to a prestigious restaurant serving Michelin starred food, however, the experience was one I will not forget and recommend to all. I went to Steak and Lobster and it does what it says on the tin. The dining experience was quite humorous with the waiter coming over and asking… Steak or Lobster not what would you like? As it stands, I went for the lobster. It arrived with a lovely well-dressed salad, thin chips and a healthy looking lobster.
What is great about these restaurants is that the quality is great and they cook it well, they have no reason not to when they have such a limited menu.
What dining experience do you go for?
